San Francisco private detective agency Spade & Archer take on a new client the very glamourous Miss Wonderly. Archer is murdered while tailing Floyd Thursby and then he too is murdered and Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) is the chief suspect. Sam begins to unravel the web of lies and deceit and discovers the item at the centre of this deadly case.
