When sailors Joe (Gene Kelly) and Clarence (Frank Sinatra) are enjoying a 4 day pass in Hollywood they are roped in to help the local police convince a small boy hes too young to join the navy and he needs to go home. The boys Aunt Susan (Kathryn Grayson) is keen to audition for Jose Iturbi and try to make an impression by telling her they know the great man. Of course this is untrue and the next few days are spent trying to make Susans wish come true.
